Announcing mezzo soprano Lotte Betts-Dean

We are thrilled to announce that Australian mezzo-soprano Lotte Betts-Dean will be joining us in January to perform the Berio Folk Songs. Praised by The Guardian for her “irrepressible sense of drama and unmissable, urgent musicality”, Lotte is passionate about curation and programming, with a broad repertoire that encompasses contemporary music, art song, chamber music, early music, opera, oratorio and non-classical collaborations. 3rd December 2023: Winter Solstice Review

An audience of over 1200 packed out Brighton Dome on a rainy Sunday afternoon for our spectacular Winter Solstice concert, featuring a programme of Arvo Pärt and Sibelius' Symphony no. 2 in D major. We welcomed guest conductor Sian Edwards, with Joanna MacGregor on piano and leader Ruth Rogers taking centre stage for Pärt's Spiegel im Spiegel. Becoming a Composer: Errollyn Wallen

Acclaimed composer Errollyn Wallen released her new book Becoming a Composer this month, published by Faber. Wallen, whose work Mighty River we will be performing in March, describes how she felt at the start of her career: 'Nothing about me fitted the picture of a composer. Joanna MacGregor in conversation with saxophonist Andy Sheppard

In three video shorts, Music Director Joanna MacGregor chats to internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, ahead of the Moondog: Sidewalk Dances concert. Joanna and Andy have collaborated on many projects, including recording their best-selling album Deep River, and many peformances of Joanna's 12-movement suite inspired by the music of street performer Moondog. Hear how Andy found his way into jazz after a move to Paris early in his career, and what excites him about the music they will perform at the Dome. Click here...
